Vessels

For the shop at the Art Gallery of Ontario, I created a series of trays and bowls inspired by the work of artist Pacita Abad. Her “stuffed” paintings are very like quilts and include many motifs common to modern quilts. I was inspired by her use of intense colour and repeated patterns, particularly spirals, split circles and squares in squares. In many of the pieces, I’ve used a trapunto quilting technique for added dimension. The pieces were available in the AGO shop during the Pacita Abad exhibition (October 2024 to February 2025).
